In 2007 I bought a Inzer standard blast shirt. Singly ply. Can I perhaps use it like the slingshot by just putting the sleeves over my arms? Or is the slingshot more elastic?

So here is my two cents for what it's worth: (I have studied various martial arts since I was 15 so I believe I have a good grasp on it.) I studied Shotokan under Yutaka Yaguchi until I was a green belt. Moved to Kajukenbo under Mike Sandos. (The name KAJUKENBO was created by combining the first few letters of each style: KA (Karate), JU (Judo and Jujitsu), KEN (Kenpo), and BO (Chinese boxing). So already the styles are being mixed. From there I studied Taekwondo, Judo, and kickboxing while in the military. It wasn't until was in my 40's that I took up Shaolin-Do under David and Sharon Soard. (yes I know of his sexual assault conviction) They were both passionate about their art which made it appealing. I stayed with it for four years until I got my 1st degree black. Now the facts: Sin The's book Shaolin-do: Secrets of the Temple Is rife with contradictions. The timelines don't match up with his certificates. The 10th degree grandmaster certificate was an honorary title from His grandfather grandmaster Ie Chang Ming. (Yes ...that was his grandfather) He states in his book that he spent most of the time watching and then learning three forms. Three. Fast forward to the court deposition against Jake Mace (which I've read) and you'll see where Sin The admits under oath that he took the kung fu forms from watching other teachers' videos and added his own moves to change it enough to avoid copyright infringement. This is fact. So here is what I learned: Shotokan taught me Technique and precision Kajukenbo taught me style(s) Taekwondo, Judo , kickboxing Taught me power and accuracy Shaolin-Do taught me variety, albeit the forms were stolen and altered. Their focus wasn't on technique, precision or power but on learning the variety of methods. The basics of which I still use in fights today. Bruce Lee said; "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." The same Bruce Lee who took what he learned from Wing Chun, and combined it with Boxing, Tang Soo Do (from Chuck Norris) and other arts and created Jeet Kune Do. Dō is the go-on vocalization of the Japanese kanji 道, corresponding to Mandarin Chinese (pinyin) dào, meaning "way", with connotations of "philosophy, doctrine" (see Tao). Is Shaolin-Do a McDojo? Yes. It's a money machine. Its design is to make money. You pay for everything; belts, uniforms, patches, weapons, testing, etc. Is Shaolin-Do a fake martial Art? Not entirely. Many of the forms were lifted from other kung fu videos and legitimate teachers. Is Shaolin-Do a belt factory? Yes but so is Taekwondo. In which you are awarded for effort and not necessarily for skill and execution. One of my closest friends is a Taekwondo Master and he will verify what I'm saying. Is Sin Kwang The a fake grandmaster? Maybe, but there are many on UA-cam who call themselves grandmasters and yet can't fight a real fight. He is an opportunist. His Honorary grandmastership is no different than someone receiving an honorary doctorate for public service. So I guess it depends on your perspective and what is important to you. I've been through the testing for 1st black in Shaolin-Do. Yes you do have to perform all of the forms from white on up with accurate knowledge of the method. The problem with learning this many forms is that technique suffers which is evident in many students. But the idea is that you practice everyday and make it a lifestyle as opposed to just a class. When it comes to self defense, Shaolin -Do will fail as will most classical martial arts. You have to step outside the concepts of the forms and go into practical application. You won't learn that here. All martial arts should evolve into practicality. But some choose to stay in tradition. Quick story: One guy from our class earned his 5th degree. He was considered a master. He went and fought in a full contact karate tournament in order to test his skill. He didn't place but held his own. He came back to the school to do more training and happened to come in durning the freestyle sparring. I was selected to spar with him. His style was a variation of the drunken style so I knew what he was going to do. But he didn't know what I was going to do. I had altered my fighting stance. I took him by surprise many times to the point where he became frustrated and started executing at full force. He never hit me once. The sparring was stopped by David Soard. Listen, don't blame the student, blame the teacher. This gal has enough knowledge now to perfect her skill. I applaud her for her effort and accomplishments. My advice is if you think you will use it for self defense, then focus on a few practical applications and master them. Mastery through discipline. That's what martial arts are all about.

As a 1st degree black belt in Shaolin-do, i can confirm that this, as a "martial art", is completely useless. However, if you're looking for something hyper-cringey that will make you look like an absolute jackass in any sort of real fight, then i highly recommend Shaolin-do. 🫸🤛

This stuff is an embarrassment to the martial arts. It's just horrible all around. Sin Kwang The is delusional to claim any sort of proficiency. One example of complete martial ignorance that should be easily understood by the layman is @1:15, where the man grabs the blade of his practice sword, wrapping his fingers over the mock sharp edge. That is absolute stupidity. One handed spear thrusts or staff techniques are equally stupid. These students are the victims of a bogus teacher. They should all sue him for fraud and they should get every penny they spent on lessons back.

Those commenting about the testing, let me share a little bit for you to understand. While not all students develop a high proficiency of form, this is what I find about this school and it's sister schools... along with some insight as to what you DON'T see. For this young lady to get her black belt, she didn't just do the one form you see here. She had to demonstrate four White Belt forms, four Yellow Belt Forms, Four Blue Belt Forms, and four Green Belt forms to get to Brown. She had to demonstrate 3 levels of brown... approximately 15 forms. Every student has to repeat ALL... I said ALL their previous forms over the course of their current level... to test to the next level. So the proficiency becomes cumulative over the years. Meanwhile, we're having fun, and we're not sitting on the couch. Everyone is not tournament fighting or scrapping in the streets. They are developing their body, their mind, their memory, their balance, their breathing. It may be flawed execution at first, but they hone their skills over time. In your style, maybe you practice one or two katas to perfection, and then you test. In this style, the Sifu gives you the material. They drill you and school you. But, they don't hold back material. It's up to you to master it. If you learn it and demonstrate understanding, you don't have to be perfect to advance and learn more. But every year, you return tot he same forms, refining and tuning, as you learn more. We know with so many forms, the first time through is not perfect. But we are taught application for these moves, and train them. Will she be perfect in all she has been shown? Most may not. But you get what you give. Those who are most serious are crazy good. Those who scrape by, it takes longer. You may be seeing video of the 5th... or the 15th... form to attain the black. so, even the most conditioned start to get tired, at the level they are testing for. Each form may be 1 minute, or 2 minutes, or 3 minutes or 4 or 5 or 6 minutes long, depending on the level of the form. I've seen some great practitioners start to get tired and look a bit sloppy, dripping with sweat, after 10 or more forms. Just because YOU don't know the application of a move you see, don't get it twisted. EVERY movement has a purpose, whether it is for conditioning or for combat. This method may not be for you. For me, I LOVE seeing having learned movements for many different weapons, seeing flavors of different open-hand styles. Don't begrudge me, nor this young lady that. I won't begrudge you training one kata all year long. Do you. I notice people who know nothing about Martial Arts, and people who think they know everything, like to look from their computer and make judgements about what they see. In a conflict, this attitude just might be your undoing.

Since I became aware of the inconsistencies in the art that The' teaches, I've been wondering what he actually knows. I read the material from the Jake Mace lawsuit. However, he did maintain (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the material he taught from above 1st degree black was 'mainly Chinese Kung Fu'. Also, I find it interesting that the Ironman form/kata bears a strong resemblance to a form in several of the traditional karate styles called "Sanchin". Please see the link below. ua-cam.com/video/cCP7bB8chNE/v-deo.html

Here's some more background info on the Sanchin kata. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not "siding" with anyone. I'm just pointing out that nothing happens in a vacuum, and the essence of what The' is teaching may very well turn out to be legitimate in the end. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanchin

Sanchin was a Chinese martial art form that actually originated in Southern China and was adopted into many Okinawan karate styles. So was Fujian White Crane which also originated in Southern China and became the basis for Shorin-Ryu and some other Karate styles
